The Shadow-Stewards are Katari glider-monks and mediators who serve as Aurex's conscience. While the Sun-Canon exalts radiance, the Shadow-Stewards maintain that true light requires shadow to give it shape.
They tend heliograph calibrations under moonlight, guide pilgrims along cliff paths during Silent Sunfast, and quietly warn the Sun-Court when zeal threatens to become self-consuming. Their songs in Tassaryn's pearl glow are said to keep the Bastion from burning itself out.
